catch up

Hi there internets!

Behold, i am not dead. i am, in fact, very much alive!!

after the craziness of last week - work, and life, and Easter, and company, and my mom's surprise 50th birthday party - my body decided to put a stop to this much stress, and threw me into 3 days of stuffed head, achy body, chills, sweats, and fever. So, while i was secretly lurking in all your internets, reading your blogs, keeping myself entertained, i wasn't commenting or writing.

i'm sorry.

i feel that for the past 2 months i've been just getting through each day. and getting through those days were miraculous - sometimes. February was awful. just godforsakenly awful. the weather was miserable, i was just barely pregnant and tired, then sick, then so busy that that month swirled right by me in a haze of evening plans.

March started out with a bang - My mom turned 50 in the beginning of the month, and my siblings and dad and i planned to throw her this big surprise party - but to throw her off the track, we threw her a decoy party on her ACTUAL birthday.

She was great. After the decoy party she went about telling all her friends (who eventually told me) that she thought the party was nice, but she had always hoped that someone (read: Laura) would have thrown her a big party with all her friends. She didn't try too hard to conceal her disappointment, which was kinda what i was hoping for.

Keeping this a secret was hard, but fun. Dad was fall guy. He took all the blame for throwing a poor party. Finally, the long weekend came and my S.i.L. and i were practically running around like chickens with our heads cut off getting food and supplies and decorations.

The big day came - and we knocked her socks off. All of this planning and scheming was totally worth it to see the look on her face when she walked in that door to see her church gym decorated and a room filled with her friends and family and even her mom flew in from B.C. and her Brother and his wife from Cowtown.

That was saturday - and we still had the weekend to go... Easter Feaster.

B-rad's mom was a little upset that we didn't want to come to church, but we're not the church-going-type....we did go out there before supper to visit. it was fun.

Then off to my mom and dad's for Easter. My Bro was in town for easter and the party, and he brought his new(ish) girlfriend.... and it was so great. She makes him the Patrick i used to know. He's so natural and at ease, and totally himself around her. We like her.

As a result of the party being over, Patrick and his G.F. in town, and everyone generally in a good mood - we laughed. My family laughed and laughed and laughed. Usually my mom and i will be the ones laughing until we cry, but the entire table (10 adults) were laughing so hard i thought that someone would pass out, likely me. And Willy Billy made some comment about my laughing so hard being considered "shaken baby" and of course this led to more laughter with him screaming; "STOP LAUGHING!! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!"

sigh.
good times.

and the good times ended there, cuz the very next day my body just decided it had had enough. The past 2 months, but especially the last week being so stupidly stressed at work and the party.... it started to shut down. And for the next 3 days i could barely lift my head off the pillow, my head was clogged with sinusy type gunk, i had a fever, chills, sweats, i couldn't even think straight.

So i stayed home sick and watched several movies on the movie network....

Disturbia - meh, it was okay. i watched it in the daytime cuz i'm notorious for watching a scary movie then getting nightmares. I think Shia Labeouf is totally cute, but David Morse's charachter just ended up annoying me rather than scaring me. But he annoyed me when he had a regular gig on my boyfriend Dr. House's show too.

Brokeback Mountain - double meh. it was very slow. good story, but i couldn't understand a thing the late Heath Ledger said, but i loved the scenery - especially since i've been to many of those places in Alberta... and i must say i was surprised to see Di$ney's Wholesome Girl Anne Hathaway's tits. They were nice.

The Brothers Solomon - it had its funny moments.... Popcorn and Dead Bird

American Dreamz - which i mostly watched on mute while i surfed internet porn (hey, i was ill...not dead)

Open Season - cute, i actually really enjoyed this one. but i'm a sucker for animated animals i guess.

So there you have it, folks. the update on my life and the movies i've watched recently. pretty thrilling, if you ask me.

oh and here's a more recent photo of B-rad, Chewie, and I from my mom's party.
