17 people love me:
Great list--Here's some love! Are you sure you don't even own an igloo?? :)
~Harris.
My igloo was blown way in the last wind storm we had... Now me and my beaver get pretty cold...
Here's that love right back to you from Eastern North Carolina! Thanks for stopping by and for your comment...and the 15 bean soup turned out great!
Love your blog! There's a few folks that will enjoy it that I'll forward it to as well.
Today's post was fun! Keep 'em coming!
Harris,
but of course i OWN an igloo... i just don't live in it. that would be silly.
paige,
i'm not quite sure what to say, except keep that beaver warm at all times. :D
annie,
thanks for the love! the whole time i was reading your post "November Rain" by Guns and Roses was running through my head, and it still is. and thanks for forwarding on the bloggy love!
So who do you like, musically?
Happy TT--
ahh, i know exactly what you are talking about! my dad is canadian and i've visited relatives there many a times!
How can anyone NOT like Barenaked Ladies and be from the land of cold beaver?
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my 56th edition Thursday Thirteen: 13 Types of People Who Get On My Nerves
I've always wanted to visit Canada. I'm not too fond of Shania either.
Happy TT!
Er.... I thought they shot anyone who didn't like BNL in Canada. Don't worry, you're secret's safe with me. Great list.. I learned a lot. I love David Sazuki too...great guy! I would love to visit Canada one day. I lived in NH for a year and I was so stupid not to take a day trip north. *conking self on head*
~hugs,
Paisley
I don't drink beer to celebrate my patriotism, but I do it for just about everything else.
And you don't live in igloos? My whole concept of Canada is shot!
Interesting...no igloo, huh?!
Fucken eh. Canada rocks.
Go Canada!!
One thing I find stupid is that it's cheaper to go to Mexico that to be able to fly a round trip to the east coast!
But I do love my Canadian beer!!
We should try to build an igloo this year! lol Wouldn't that be a great future post?!
Margaret Atwood is one of my favorite (as in top three) writers. She ought to be more widely read than she is. I obsessively reread "The Robber Bride" and "The Blind Assassin." She just gets better and better.
My husband lived in Canada for years and traveled all over, and he would rather live in Toronto than anywhere else, I think.
Too bad about the igloos; I remember watching a show when I was a kid about a Mountie called "Sergeant Preston" who had a dog called "Yukon King."
The only Canadian band you named that I liked is "Barenaked Ladies," though I am sick to death of "One Week."
I was reading the comments and the one about shooting Canadians who don't love BNL amused me. I kept thinking, "No, no! They shoot you if you don't love The Hip."
susan,
i like many types of music. But in Canada, they have this thing called CanCon (Canadian Content) which is a mandate that 50% of of all radio programming must be Canadian. Therefore, a lot of Canadian Bands get "PUSHED" on the radio by virtue of them being Canadian, not because they're particularly good. I like Arcade Fire, and some local bands, i like Alanis Morisette sorta.
amanda,
where did you get to visit?
Dane,
see above re: Canadian Radio stations. Once the BNL hit the American radio stations, they re-released their album "Gordon" (Which was their best) and then it was ALL BNL ALL THE TIME
jenn,
you're welcome to visit our fair country any time, although if you're not a fan of winter i'd suggest waiting until the summer.
paisley,
you were a day trip away?? well, i hope you make it sometime.
Earl,
it's amazing what people will do/say if you give them a bottle of Canadian. Also, I hear the President of Canada is going to finally push to movement for the adoption of the 24 hour day. We work solely on a 23.5 hour day and have for hundreds of years. We're all very excited about that extra half hour!!
diana,
yeah, sorry. no igloos.
abigail,
fuck ya!
Melsie,
yeah, i've noticed that too... not that i mind a trip to Mexico. Also, if we EVER GET any snow, maybe we can try to make an igloo.
damozel,
yeah!! My faves are "The Handmaid's Tale" and "Oryx and Craik". I would love to spend some time in Toronto. i do have a cousin there, so maybe sometime i will.
Mika,
you're right. The Tragically Hip is like Canada's Poster child for rock music, personally - their new stuff sucks, but i still like some of the oldies: "Blowin High Dough" "100th Meridian" and "New Orleans" everything else can suck it. :D
I spent five of the best years of my life in Canada, when I was much younger, and I agree that it's a wonderful place. But in those days you just couldn't get away from Anne Murray and Gordon Lightfoot. Yes, the Edmund Fitzgerald sank. Okay. We get it. Sing about something else!
