noblopomo

no entry today.

my house was broken into.

they busted in the door, stole my laptop (FIONA!!!), My husband's pocket watch that i gave him on our wedding day, our PS2 - but not guitar hero, some cash, and some other junk.

also,
they left a knife in my bed.

they brought a knife. into my bedroom.

i almost took the afternoon off today.

almost.

ps - my cats are both fine. and they didn't smash up the house.

more to follow.

Sorry I missed your call!! Hope everything goes fairly smooth with the after events.

The knife in the bed is what shocks me. Screwed up people out there. Glad everything wasn't trashed though.

How wasn't Guitar Hero taken??? Very sorry about Fiona, it's like a family member to you. Hugs.

oh my goodness! I am so sorry that happened to you, it's such an intrusion on your life and your sanity!!

Holy crap. I hope you are okay. That is so scary. I wish I could give you a big hug and tell you everything will be okay. I'm so glad that cats are okay and that you weren't home. Please keep us posted.

I've been broken into more than once, and it's a violation beyond what most people acknowledge. If you need to vent or ask questions, contact me. This stuff hits hard.

A knife? That's the creepiest thing I've ever heard.

Be glad you weren't home. Fiona can be replaced, you can't be. I'm sorry this happened to you and to whoever did it, I hope they're arms and legs fall off and they get the camel crabs reallll bad.

being robbed in your house is one of the worse feelings you can have... my house didnt feel safe for months...

When i got home I had found a shoe wedged in the back door (so we wouldnt hear the door slam when if we came home early) and a knife on my steps...

my sympathies, hon

We've also had three or so break-ins. It's no good.

I had a thought about the knife, but I'm not sure exactly how to say it. I'll cogitate on that.

After our break-ins, when no-one was home, I made sure I did a thorough smudging of the house. It helps.

Fun facts about robbery (from an ex-claims adjuster).

The probability is high that they were teenagers. If the robbery happened between 2pm and 5pm, they most certainly were, skipping school and looking for things to hock for drug money.

The knife on the bed means little. Bedrooms are where you look for jewelry and most thieves want your pillow case more than anything. Makes a great bag for hauling loot and doesn't rip.

You will notice they didn't take things they might want (guitar hero), but things they can sell. They want to get in and get out quickly (usually less than 5 minutes) and don't have time to go through all the draws and closets.

Sadly, most burglary crimes such as this are committed by drug addicts supporting a habit. Best defense.....get a big dog.

I'm surprised and not surprised that so many of your readers have also been broken into. *Raises hand* I have also had my door kicked in and my home invaded. It sucks... it sucks hardcore. You don't want to be left alone and you don't want to open the door for the mailman anymore. It's like your home was raped. It's an awful feeling. But it does fade in time, like anything else - "This too shall pass". Until then, get a security system. If I was still in a house, I would.

Palinode,
thanks. i don't want to think about what they were thinking when they brought a knife in my bedroom.

Melsie,
don't worry about it, it's okay. Yes, we were very fortunate that we have nice respectable thieves who hade the decency to NOT trash the house.

Evilpinkcupcake,
Yes, it really is - it REALLY is.

Teeni,
We are all okay. Thanks for your hugs. The cats are fine, they probably ran and hid in the basement like the ferocious guard cats they are.

schmutzie,
thank you, i appreciate the offer. it is an awful awful feeling.

Abigail,
you're telling me.

Red,
yes, thankfully we were not at home. And Fiona can be replaced... it just sucks. a lot.

Slyde,
thank you for your thoughts. now the fun task of making our home feel safe again.

Cenobyte,
yeah, i have plans to go out later today and get supplies for a good house smudging. I know that will clear the energy here.

Lotus,
the cops have some theories.
i'm thinkin a nice retired police dog... or a cute and cuddly doberman...

Fourleaf,
yeah, totally feels like my house was raped. We're looking into security systems today. thanks for coming over last night.

That's awful! The knife in the bed, particularly so.

Thank God(dess) no one was hurt!

That is so terrifying and horrible, sweetie. I was broken into once and didn't sleep for a good month afterward. I was living alone at the time, so I am so glad you've got B-rad there with you.

The one thing that experience taught me is that things are just things. They don't matter. What matters is you, your family and your safety.

Clearly, the universe is looking out for you. I'm so glad you and the cats are okay.
