I did something really similar a few months ago. I don't like to send money to the third world ('cause I don't want them to spend it on drugs) so I bought 30 angora sweaters in really bright colours. I sent it to a village in Africa. And they sent me a postcard and it said that they had one sweater for everyone in the school, and that they were delicious.
